About Us

wptc is a GIS Consulting company in Austin, Texas. We celebrated our 20th year of committed service to our clients and the Austin GIS community. Our expertise includes applications built on an ArcMap base and Internet applications with significant mapping and reporting components. Our preferred tools are VBA and VB in ArcMap, C# in ASP.NET and SQL Server.

People

John Alexander and Valerie Warwick each have over 15 years of programming experience with a variety of languages and database tools. We have extensive experience with ESRI's ArcGIS products for the desktop and the server. In a rapidly changing software and network environment, we spend a considerable amounts of time evaluating, experimenting and developing our skills. 2008 presents an unusual set of challenges. Microsoft is running the table with a new server operating system (Windows 2008), a major rewrite of IIS (IIS 7.0), new developer tools (Visual Studio 2008, .Net Framework 3.5) and a new version of SQL Server (SQL Server 2008 including a spatial option). We expect a similar set of announcements from Google and ESRI. This year looks like fun! It will also mark our first deployment of production applications based on public mapping API's like the OGR and Google not dependent on ESRI products.

wptc  in Austin

We've been in Austin for 20 years. We get started with most of our customers by getting involved in projects that are off-track, behind schedule or over budget. We're not mild mannered geeks that step into dark rooms lit with glowing phosphor (our phone booths) and turn into super coders, but we've had a number of successes. Almost everyone we work with comes back for more. If we have a mantra for 2008, it's probably empower customers, reduce costs and accelerate deployment. (OK, this is marketing material and in the spirit of complete disclosure, transparency, whatever, we want to reduce the total cost, but we'd still like to get paid!)
